What exactly do you mean...when you say "Listen to Your Body"???

Listening to your body in a fitness class means paying attention to the physical sensations you experience during a workout session. This can include feelings such as fatigue, discomfort, or pain, or connection to body awareness and muscle activation that promotes success, that may arise and indicate whether an exercise is suitable for your current level of fitness or not. Listening to your body can also help you gauge how hard you are working, so that you don't push yourself too far beyond your limits and risk injury. By tuning into internal cues, it's possible to adjust activities accordingly and ensure that every workout session is safe and effective.

Internal cues refer to the signals that come from within our own bodies, such as hunger and fatigue. These cues can be used to help regulate behavior, since they provide us with signals about our physical and emotional needs or states. Recognizing and listening to internal cues is an important part of self-care, as it allows us to make decisions based on how we truly feel instead of responding out of habit or trying to ignore our feelings altogether.

Here are 5 ways to strengthen your connection between mind and body in order to become more aware of internal cues:

  1. Meditation

  2. Journaling

  3. Yoga

  4. Dance

  5. Mindfulness Practice: Gratitude, Walks, Eating

Yes, it's important to remember that everyone is different and there is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to fitness. Don't be afraid to adjust the intensity or frequency of your workouts according to how you feel in order to ensure that each session is safe, effective, and enjoyable for YOU.

Learning how to pay attention to your body helps you develop better coping strategies for stress and anxiety, allowing you establish healthier relationships with yourself and others around you.
